In my Significant Writing Project, I demonstrated my ability to use MLA formatting and citation guidelines effectively. In my writing I included in-text citations, a work cited page, paraphrases, and direct quotes to create my own compelling writing.
In the body of my work, I used direct quotes to support key arguments, making sure that each quote was properly cited with MLA format. Additionally, I paraphrased and summarized information from my sources, making sure to rephrase the original text accurately and cite it properly to avoid plagiarism. In this project I started off using lots of quotes from Turkle’s writing in order to set up a strong understanding of her work for my readers. I also used these direct quotes to show the exact language from my source when it’s really important. This way, I can make sure the meaning stays the same and that I’m not changing what the author said.
Finally, I included a Works Cited page formatted properly with MLA guidelines. with each source listed in alphabetical order. By using MLA formatting, I demonstrated my ability to incorporate research responsibly and to strengthen my arguments in my writing.
