Penn State offensive lineman Nick Dawkins, known as the “mayor of State College,” is a role model for the freshman on the football team. Dawkins won the 2024 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy for his exemplary balance of community service and leadership. He believes in contributing to something bigger than oneself and investing in others. The first thing Dawkins told freshman offensive lineman Cooper Cousins was about “being a good person.” Dawkins’ leadership has already impacted Cousins, who made an impact on and off the field in his first year in the Happy Valley. Dawkins will now return for a sixth season at Penn State, providing valuable veteran presence for the team. With now four returning starters, including Dawkins at center, the offensive line is looking to have a successful year. With this Cousins may potentially step up into a starting role at right guard.
